So this weeks show was on Addiction. Normally when you think about addiction you immediately correlate it with alcohol or drug abuse. On tonight's show even though we mostly spoke on those forms of abuse we also gave you some other addictions to think about such as web, phone, shopping, vanity, and money. Addiction comes in all forms and more shockingly were the stats that we gave our listeners. What was most shocking to me was the fact that the US makes up 5% of the world population yet consumes over 60% of illegal drugs in the world. WOW!!!! That's crazy... It's sad to view facts like these and see the difference in the percentages. Another sad fact is that violent behavior attributed to alcohol use accounts for roughly 49% of murders, 52% of rapes, 21% of suicides and 60% of child abuse. So most substance abusers aren't even committing violence against themselves. It's the children and innocent people they are harming. If you or someone you know has a problem try to get them help. Express that you care and try to have others around to help initiate some form of intervention. save a life today, but remember to protect yourself as well. You don't to be harmed in the process of trying to help someone out. They have to want to be helped as well. Well guys be on the lookout for part two of our addiction series.
